Traffic Signals On Route 82 to be Fixed Soon
Timing of lights is off, leading to congestion on Royalton Road near I-71

If you think you've noticed more traffic tie-ups on in the last few weeks, you're right.
A serious accident on the Interstate 71 ramp knocked a traffic control box right off its concrete foundation, according to John Bedford, the city's director of technology.
The box has been replaced, but the synchronization of the signals has been off.

"You'll get a green light, then a red. It's not supposed to be that way," Bedford said.
Councilman at large Joe DeMio said at the April 4 City Council meeting, though, that the lights are going to be re-timed.

Strongsville's traffic signals are on a high-tech synchronization system that adjusts itself to accommodate traffic flow and keep vehicles moving. The system, like those in many other area communities, was largely paid with a grant as part of a program to improve air quality by keeping vehicles from idling a red lights.
Bedford said the synchronization was thrown off when the box was destroyed.
"The lights are supposed to talk to each other, and that's not happening," he said.
However, he said he has gotten confirmation from the company that oversees the signals that the timing will be restored within the next two weeks.
