U-Haul Got Stuck Near Strongsville Bridge

The driver either missed or ignored signs saying the bridge had a nine foot clearance. His U-Haul got stuck near the bridge for his error.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — A clearance beam on the Walter F. Ehrnfelt covered bridge, on Whitney Road, was damaged last week when a truck ignored a nine foot clearance sign. The truck got stuck underneath the bright yellow clearance beam.

Police reports indicate the truck was a U-Haul. An overhead sign before the covered bridge was struck by the top of the truck, causing the U-Haul to get stuck.

The driver of the U-Haul, a 37-year-old Parma man, was cited for failing to obey traffic laws. The truck was eventually dislodged, but crews had to shut down the covered bridge on April 6 for repairs.
