Want to Be Part of a World Record? Jump Over to Metroparks

Event also includes a 5K run/walk

Cleveland Metroparks will host a 5K race and an attempt to break a world record on Saturday, June 9 at Big Cedar Point Picnic Area in Rocky River Reservation in North Olmsted.

The events are part of the new Healthy People, Healthy Planet Fair & 5K Run/Walk, which runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 3.1-mile run/walk starts on Valley Parkway at 9 a.m., winds through the natural surface trails and climbs up the 135-stairs to Fort Hill -- with a great view 90 feet above the Rocky River. The course continues down the back stairs and to the finish line.

After the 5K, join the effort break a Guinness Book of World Records for the "Largest Group of People doing Jumping Jacks" at the same time for one minute, starting at 10:15 a.m.

The record for the most people star jumping (doing jumping jacks) simultaneously is 1,157 and was achieved by students at Mamie Fay School in New York in 2011.

Everyone who attends can enjoy the "Healthy Planet, Healthy People Fair" until 2 p.m., featuring vendors and exhibitors on how to care for the planet in your own backyards, and taking care of the mind, body and spirit. Refreshments will be available, and adults can purchase a variety of beers at the "Beer Garden."

Big Cedar Point Picnic Area is located off Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in North Olmsted. Suggested parking is at Rocky River Nature Center, Little Cedar Point and Frostville Museum.
