🌱 One-Year-Old Revived With Narcan + City Council Suspends Auditor

  • A 1-year-old child had to be revived with Narcan at St. Vincent's Hospital Sunday.
  • Toledo City Council voted 10-1 to suspend City Auditor John Jaksetic and a vote to remove council president Matt Cherry failed 8-3 at a special session Tuesday.
  • The Lucas County Commissioners pledged $800,000 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds ahead of Toledo City Council's vote regarding medical debt relief for residents.

A 1-year-old child had to be revived with Narcan at St. Vincent's Hospital after Toledo Police responded to an emergency call in the 500 block of Milton Street in Toledo's East Side neighborhood. The child reportedly found a bag outside and put it in his mouth, prompting his mother to rush to the hospital. (WTOL)
  2. Vietnam veteran Jerry Newman will travel from the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport to Washington D.C. as an "honored veteran." Newman remembers his four fallen classmates from Rogers High School and another from St. Anthony's elementary school. (WTVG)
  3. Ohio U.S. Senate candidates Tim Ryan and JD Vance will be in Northwest Ohio in the week leading up to Election Day November 8. Both candidates will participate in a Town Hall broadcast on Fox News on November 1. (WTVG)
  4. The Lucas County Commissioners are showing their support for a medical debt relief ordinance that has not yet been voted on by Toledo City Council. The Commissioners have pledged to contribute $800,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds toward the measure. (WNWO)
  5. Toledo City Auditor John Jaksetic was suspended for 30 days after a 10-1 vote during a special city council meeting Tuesday. At the same meeting, council member Nick Komives moved to have council president Matt Cherry removed for "a lack of leadership," but it failed 8-3. (WTOL)

  • The Northwest Ohio Center for Excellence in STEM Education held a young Women in STEM event for hundreds of students at BGSU on Tuesday. (WTOL)
  • The Toledo Police Department released body cam footage showing officers repeatedly hitting Quantrell Thomas, 27, after he was pulled over October 24. Thomas had active warrants for domestic violence and aggravated menacing and TPD is investigating the officers' conduct. (WTOL)
