🌱 14-Year-Old Murdered + House Fire + Cop Shoots Dogs, Saves Man

Here are the top stories today in Toledo:

  1. Toledo Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire on Woodland Avenue near Ewing Street where just hours earlier a teenager was shot and killed. The fire is under investigation as to whether it's related to the shooting. It is unknown whether the home was occupied at the time. (WTOL)
  2. 14-year-old Jaylen Pryor is dead following a shooting in South Toledo on Monday night in the 700 block of Woodland near Ewing. Pryor was sitting in a parked car when another vehicle drove up and an occupant shot him. A second shooting occurred in a townhouse on S. Detroit Ave., where 26-year-old Daquan Wilson and 22-year-old Rashaun McCoy were injured and taken to the hospital. (WTOL)
  3. Union members of the Ohio Civil Services Employees Association Chapter 4818 picketed Monday outside the Toledo Correctional Institution to protest unsafe working conditions. The facility is suffering from staffing issues and is short 57-60 officers with inmates nearing maximum capacity. (WNWO NBC 24)
  4. A Toledo Police officer shot three dogs who were attacking 52-year-old Shawn Lothery in the 1000 block of Ewing on Sunday morning. The officer fired just three shots, stopping the attack, and Lothery and a second victim were transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent's for treatment. (13abc Action News)
  5. A fire after an explosion at the Toledo Refinery has caused road closures. Pickle Road is closed from Woodville to Patchen, but there have been no evacuations reported. (13abc Action News)

  • Toledo Police are looking for a suspect who stole a purse from a vehicle on Woodmont Road in West Toledo. Security footage shows the criminal opening the door of the 2013 Ford Escape on October 13 and taking off with the purse. (WTOL)
  • Toledo Police are cracking down on traffic violations through the Thanksgiving holiday. Beginning today, TPD officers will be working additional traffic hours with an emphasis on identifying speed and impaired driving. (WTOL)
  • 23-year-old Chase Gibson was arrested early Saturday after fighting a Toledo firefighter at the scene of a car accident. The wreck occurred at Dorr Street and Hess Road in West Toledo. Gibson first interfered with a firefighter offering first aid and then actually attempted to fight with the firefighter. (WTOL)
