Happy Tuesday, neighbors! Here's what's going on around Toledo today.


First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny. High: 43 Low: 31.


Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. A SWAT team responded after two teenagers were shot in a home on Lockwood Avenue between West Sylvania Avenue and Berdan on Sunday night. Victims Trilaunda Anderson and Tyronn Carter, both 18, are in stable condition according to Toledo Police. (WTVG)
  2. The University of Toledo men's and women's basketball teams are both first in the Mid-American Conference, with the men's team winning back-to-back MAC titles for the first time after beating Bowling Green 96-56 Friday night. Both UToledo teams will play the number 8 seed in the upcoming 2022 MAC Tournaments. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Cardinal Stritch High School canceled its Sunday matinee performance of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" after a student was injured during production. The condition of the student is unknown at this time. (WTOL)
  4. May 6 will be this year's Toledo Opera's 2022 Gala at the Toledo Club and will feature tenor Chauncey Packer who will perform accompanied by Maestro Kevin Bylsma. He will also perform selections with the Toledo Opera Resident Artists. (BG Independent Media)
  5. The Libbey House Foundation is sponsoring a lecture series about Toledo's connection to glass called "The Glass City: Toledo and the Industry That Made It." Presenters will include historians, glass industry executives, curators, and collectors and the $10 ticket price includes a wine and cheese reception. (Press Release Desk)

  • Toledo has seen gas prices soar 45.6 cents since last week, with an average of $3.80 per gallon. Nationally, the average is $4.06 per gallon and comes as Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues. (WTOL)
  • The Toledo Ballet will showcase artists from the Dancing Wheels Company & School, which features non-ambulatory dancers using wheel chairs. The gala will be Friday, April 29 at the Valentine Theatre. (BG Independent Media)
  • BGSU student Stone Foltz died as a result from hazing during a Pi Kappa Alpha event in March 2021. 8 other students have now been charged in his death, two of which have pleaded guilty and will be sentenced this June. (WTOL)
  • The rider of a dirt bike that crashed into a car in Point Place on Sunday evening was hospitalized with serious but non life-threatening injuries. Toledo Police report the crash occurred at the corner of 131st Street and North Summit Street around 7:15 PM. (WTOL)
