Toledo Tomorrow joins new statewide education program as regional leader (toledoblade.com) — A Toledo-based nonprofit, Toledo Tomorrow, has been tapped as a regional leader in Ohio's new education partnerships program, focusing locally on early literacy and preschool. Officers say someone fired from an alley into a crowd around 9:30 p.m., with one victim found on nearby Bronson Avenue. No suspects are in custody yet as detectives work to learn what sparked the gunfire.
   

4. Historic vacant Toledo church destroyed in early-morning fire; steeple collapses, cause under investigation (smobserved.com) — A major early-morning fire destroyed the vacant former St. Agnes Catholic Church in Toledo's Five Points neighborhood, collapsing its steeple and forcing nearby evacuations and street closures. Fire crews contained the blaze without injuries, but the neighboring Ann Jerkins Harris Academy of Excellence suffered minor damage and briefly canceled classes while demolition and safety fencing were completed.
   

5. Ohio political leaders react after Amy Acton allegedly attacked at Canfield Fair (wtol.com) — Toledo residents saw both major gubernatorial tickets in town for Labor Day events as they responded to an alleged attack on Democrat Amy Acton at the Canfield Fair. Republican Vivek Ramaswamy and Democrat David Pepper, both visiting Toledo, condemned political violence and praised law enforcement. Acton returned to the trail emphasizing civility, safety, and unifying voters.
