Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:
- Former Bowling Green State University professor Timothy Davis entered an "Alford plea" to three counts of rape with a victim under the age of 10 in the Lucas County Common Pleas Court on Thursday. The plea allows Davis to avoid admitting guilt while acknowledging there is enough evidence to convict him. He will be sentenced February 22 and is currently incarcerated in the Lucas County Corrections Center. (WNWO NBC 24)
- Former Ohio State linebacker and Toledo native Dallas Grant is ditching his Buckeyes jersey to wear the colors of the University of Toledo Rockets. Citing the need for more playing time, Grant will have two years of playing eligibility with the Rockets. (WTOL)
- The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has canceled the vaccine clinic for Saturday at the Lucas County Rec Center due to a water main break. The clinic will resume next Saturday, February 12 and appointments are still available at the Toledo-Lucas County Health Dept. next week in Downtown Toledo. (WTOL)
- The Bedford Township Board of Trustees has voted 6-1 to upgrade the phone system for the Bedford Branch Library, which hasn't been updated since 1988. The new provisions will be supplied by the Temperance-based Propel-U-4-Ward company and will allow for cloud-based telecommunications. (Monroe Evening News)
- The emergency 911 dispatchers for Lucas County were put to the test the last several days as many weather-related emergency calls came in. Taking thousands of calls a day, the local dispatch intends to hire for 15 positions this month. (13abc Action News)
