🌱 Body Found In West Toledo Lot + Swanton D.C. Rioters Plea Deal

Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:
- Toledo Police are investigating after the body of Marla Cortland was found in a vacant lot in West Toledo near Pinewood and Forest avenues on Monday morning. The Lucas County Coroner's Office confirmed Cortland's death and an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday. (13abc Action News)
- Jodi Lynn Wilson and her son Cole Temple, both of Swanton, were implicated in the January 6, 2021 riot in Washington, D.C. and are expected to enter into a plea deal according to their attorneys. Two other rioters from Swanton, Gabriel Burress and Madison Pettit, were expected in court on Tuesday but received a 60-day extension instead. (13abc Action News)
- Fire crews from Monclova, Springfield, and Sylvania Township responded to a barn that caught on fire on Albon Road in Springfield Township Tuesday morning. The cause is currently under investigation and no animals or people were injured according to the Springfield Township Fire Chief. (WTOL)
- The University of Toledo Rockets men's basketball team is looking to maintain its current 9-game winning streak against the Western Michigan Broncos at the game today in Savage Arena. The last time Western Michigan was victorious was on Feb. 21, 2017. (Your News Now)
- The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department is raising awareness for home safety after a series of brutal fires have swept through the area in recent weeks. Private Sterling Rahe urges Toledoans to check to ensure things like stoves, electronics, and other combustibles are switched off. Smoke alarms have also helped save lives when tragedy strikes. - Hyggelight Candles, a company started by husband and wife duo Cyndi and Chris Hileman, features sustainable eco-friendly candles that can be used as planters for wildflowers. - Toledo Police are investigating after 19-year-old Danny Young was shot in the 300 block of Kosciusko early Tuesday morning in North Toledo. No suspect has been identified, and Young's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. (13abc Action News)
