First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny, hot and humid. High: 91 Low: 72.

Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. A 39-year-old Sylvania man drowned in Devil's Lake on Sunday, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office. The man reportedly disappeared attempting to help a child while tubing and his body was not found until over 24 hours later using sonar technology. (WTVG)
  2. Two teenagers are hospitalized after crashing a stolen car into a home near the corner of Miami and Yondota streets. Toledo Police spotted the stolen vehicle and followed it with their lights on, at which point the driver sped up, lost control, and crashed. (WTVG)
  3. Both Lucas and Wood Counties have been deemed "red" counties by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) thanks to the more easily transmissible BA.2.12.1 omicron subvariant of COVID. Though the variant can mean milder cases, rates of infection and hospitalizations are up dramatically. (WTOL)
  4. Jacob Krinn and Troy Hendrickson have been found not guilty of the most serious charges they faced in the Stone Foltz hazing death trial. Several schools in Ohio are cracking down on fraternities, including expelling or suspending them from campuses. (WTOL)
  5. An unnamed man is expected to recover after falling off a cliff on Put-in-Bay while he was mowing a lawn on Friday. The rescue was assisted by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Atlantic Area Command, the Great Lakes and Guard Sector Detroit, the Put-in-Bay emergency services, and the Mercy Health Life Flight Network.
