Here are the top stories today in Toledo:

  1. Over a year has passed since 15-year-old Justin Hughes was shot to death walking back from the McDonald's at Dorr and Collingwood. Toledo Police report they still have no witnesses to the crime. (13abc Action News)
  2. Toledo Police engaged in a car chase after reportedly suicidal 21-year-old Christian Hamilton was driving recklessly while streaming on Facebook. The car eventually crashed into an occupied home in the 5200 block of Oldham in West Toledo. (WTOL)
  3. Several neighbors are fed up with an abandoned building at 350 West Woodruff owned by Cathedral Ministries Inc., an Ohio corporation. The site has been ruled a nuisance and ha drawn criticism by City Councilwoman Vanice Williams. (13abc Action News)
  4. Former University of Toledo police officer Jeffrey Hodge was denied parole for his 1992 murder of Melissa Herstrum, then a 19-year-old UT nursing student. The Ohio Parole Board cited Hodge's complete disregard for life and betrayal of public trust as the rationale in denying parole. (WJW FOX 8 News Cleveland)
  5. The State of Ohio has announced it will no longer support plans to turn Cullen Park in Point Place and Grassy Island in Oregon into wetlands. The proposed plan was meant to mitigate the damaging effects of algal blooms and improve water quality in Lake Erie. (Toledo City Paper)
