Here are the top stories in Toledo today:

  1. Charges have finally been brought concerning the death of 3-year-old Braylen Noble after his body was discovered in an apartment complex swimming pool in September 2020. The child's mother, Dajnae Cox, and grandmother, Bobbie Johnson, have been charged with felonies: obstructing justice for both and an additional charge of felony child endangerment for Cox. (WTOL)
  2. The Aerospace and Natural Science Academy of Toledo (ANSAT) is teaming up with the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department to incorporate drone technology into its skill set. The training hopes to bolster emergency services and use the technology in rescue efforts and to keep Toledo's first responders safe. (13abc Action News)
  3. A Toledo man has been indicted on murder charges for a shooting that took the life of 31-year-old Alex Day in November 2020 in front of the Byrneport Apartments in South Toledo. 30-year-old Trevonne Darrington was charged with murder on September 16, 2021 and was indicted on Thursday. (WTOL)
  4. 26-year-old Darryl Lathan has pleaded not guilty for charges related to a Toledo nightclub shooting that occurred in May of this year. Lathan is accused of killing Armonte Rodger at the Spotlight Lounge on Reynolds Road. Lathan was already in custody at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio on an unrelated charge when Toledo Police issued the warrant. (13abc Action News)
  5. A Toledo woman was struck by a car while walking southbound on Telegraph Road in Monroe County, Michigan on Wednesday morning. As the operator of the vehicle called 911, the pedestrian was picked up by a Toledo man and transported to an unknown location in Toledo. (WLEN-FM)

  • A home that was destroyed by a fire in Sylvania this past February is still standing, presenting a myriad of problems for its surrounding neighbors. The home is reportedly an eyesore and has emitted a terrible smell in wet and warm conditions. Residents report the City of Sylvania and various agencies have not taken action in the past several months. (13abc Action News)
  • Lucas County is in need of poll workers as election day approaches on November 2. COVID concerns, a general labor shortage, and a non-presidential election year all lead to staffing issues. (13abc Action News)
  • Beginning Wednesday, Washington Local Schools will no longer require a mask mandate. The change in policy comes as the Ohio Department of Health is no longer recommending that students quarantine if exposed to COVID unless experiencing symptoms or testing positive. (13abc Action News)
