Crash Causes Power Outage + Dog Dies In Fire + Manhole Accident

Hey, Toledo! Let's get you all caught up to start this Friday off on an informed note. Here are the most important things happening today in town.

First, today's weather: Partly cloudy throughout the day. High: 77 Low: 60.


Here are the top stories today in Toledo:

  1. An overnight crash in South Toledo left several residents without power as Toledo Edison crews worked on repairs. A vehicle struck a utility pole on the 3100 block of Hill Ave. and the driver was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. (WTOL)
  2. Toledo fire crews responded to a blaze in central Toledo in the 1500 block of Tecumseh near Pulaski. Though the residents were not home at the time, a dog was found dead in a cage in the kitchen. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. (WTOL)
  3. At Point Place, a Toledo woman suffered injuries after she stepped onto a manhole cover that flipped and she fell through. The woman lives behind Shoreland Elementary school and expressed concern that such an incident might be dangerous for children who use the route. (13abc Action News)
  4. The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) board has submitted its sales tax plan for an upcoming Lucas County ballot initiative. Board president Kelsie Hoagland states the measure will be a reduction in property taxes and will expand TARTA into underserved areas of the city. (WNWO NBC 24)
  5. Toledo Police have arrested an individual in relation to a murder that occurred July 21, 2021. Though the culprit that committed the act has not been identified, Treashia Lampkin was arrested for obstructing justice. (13 ABC)
