🌱 Criminal Charges For School Threats + Missing 12-Year-Old Safe

Hey Toledo: As you may know, Amazon Web Services experienced an outage on Tuesday that affected the Toledo Daily. Here are the top stories in Toledo today:

  1. 12-year-old Eisghion Thomas had been missing from the 700 block of Cherry Street in North Toledo since early Monday morning. Police were able to locate him on Wednesday morning and he was found safe. (13abc Action News)
  2. A Central Toledo home in the 1700 block of Parkdale Avenue caught fire Wednesday morning around 1 AM. Toledo Fire is investigating, and it was reported aerosol cans inside the home exploded and triggered a Shotspotter alert. (WTOL)
  3. Toledo Police are investigating a shooting and a car crash on Cribb Street in West Toledo on Tuesday. TPD identified Alyssa Hernandez as the victim of a shooting near Laskey and Lewis avenues in which she suffered minor injuries. A car also crashed into a utility pole, downing power lines, though it is unclear whether these events are related. (WTOL)
  4. In 2015, two students at the Ohio Virtual Academy created a toy drive. Since then, the group has managed to collect nearly 50,000 toys to donate to Nationwide Children's Hospital. Tyler Slaven and Monica Heath had no idea their endeavor would be so successful. Toledo's donation box is located at the Ohio Virtual Academy office in Maumee at 1690 Woodlands Dr., Suite 200.   5. Several recent threats at Toledo Public Schools are being investigated, with one Bowsher student facing criminal charges and disciplinary action for a threatening message posted on social media. The threat was apparently meant to be a joke, according to TPS Deputy Superintendent James Grant. Toledo Police are investigating similar threatening messages at Start and Waite. (13abc Action News)

  • Toledo City Councilwoman Cerssandra McPherson spoke out against violence in the streets of Toledo at 14-year-old Jaylen Pryor's funeral on Tuesday. Pryor was the 65th homicide in Toledo this year. Toledo's Violence Interrupters are currently recruiting, and already have seen a positive impact on the Glass City. (13abc Action News)
