Deadly I-475 Crash + New Cancer Center + Toledo History Museum

Happy Thursday, Toledo! Let's get you all caught up on what's happening locally to start today off on an informed note.

Here are the top stories in Toledo today:

  1. The Victory Center has opened a new, permanent facility at 3166 N. Republic Blvd. There will be an open house today from 1-4 pm. The center focuses on the emotional, spiritual, and mental aspects of recovering from cancer at no cost to patients. (13abc Action News)
  2. A veterans' memorial at Friendship Park in Point Place was vandalized over the weekend and Toledo Police are investigating the matter. Residents report this is not the first time the memorial has been vandalized, and there is hope that the damage is covered by insurance since it is on city property. (WTOL)
  3. A Temperance, Michigan man has died following a crash on 1-475. The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the dump truck he was driving after the raised truck bed struck the Holland-Sylvania road overpass. (13abc Action News)
  4. The Toledo History Museum, located in the Valentine Theater downtown, is opening its doors this weekend after being closed for more than a year during the COVID pandemic. The museum highlights Toledo's rich automotive history, just in time for Toledo Jeep Fest (August 6-8). (13abc Action News)
  5. A fire occurred at Cherry Picked Auto in the 5600 block of North Toledo. Toledo Fire and Rescue were able to get the fire under control. (WTOL)
