🌱 Fatal Accident At Sylvania & Monroe + TFRD Respond To Federal Court

- Katey Rice, 31, is out on bond after allegedly shooting a 41-year-old man three times in the 1200 block of Slater.
- Toledo Fire & Rescue responded to the Downtown Toledo Federal Courthouse Tuesday after it was discovered that a suspicious white powder was found in the mail intake area.
- Arshawn Hines, 21, has died following a high-speed car accident at Monroe Street and Sylvania Avenue just after midnight Tuesday morning.

Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:
- Katey Rice, 31, has been charged with felonious assault after allegedly shooting a 41-year-old man three times Monday morning in the 1200 block of Slater in Toledo. Rice was arrested by Toledo Police and booked into the Lucas County Correction Center before being released on $50,000 bail. (WTVG)
- A high speed crash at Monroe and Sylvania Avenue has left 21-year-old Arshawn Hines dead just after midnight on Tuesday morning. The crash occurred after a vehicle heading westbound side-swiped another vehicle. A 30-year-old woman was transported to St. Anne's hospital though no injuries were reported. (WTVG)
- The Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank needs the community's help for food donations while food scarcity remains nearly as high as it was during the pandemic. Though the food bank distributes roughly 400,000 pounds of food per month, donations are hovering around 250,000 pounds. (WTOL)
- Cedar Point will retire its iconic Top Thrill Dragster ride after it has been closed since August 2021. A woman was injured while waiting in line for the ride last year, though the Ohio Department of Agriculture cleared the amusement park of any violations of Ohio law. (WNWO)
- Toledo Fire & Rescue was called to the James M. Ashley and Thomas W. L Ashley U.S. Courthouse in Downtown Toledo around 3 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a bag of white powder located in the mail intake area. The incident is being investigated as potentially hazardous material but no injuries were reported. (WTOL)

- One person has been hospitalized after a two-car collision that caused one vehicle to crash into the side of the Berdan building on South Erie Street in Downtown Toledo Tuesday. (WTOL)
- James Owens, 42, has died from his injuries after a triple shooting at the Recovery Room bar parking lot around 4 a.m. on August 29 in South Toledo. Owens died Monday nearly a week after the shooting, which also involved Ebony Hernandez, 43, and Danielle Houston, 35. (WTOL)
- Several Ohio politicians campaigned at the Toledo Labor Day Parade ahead of November general election, including Ohio Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who served as the parade's grand marshal. (WTOL)
- This November Toledo voters will have the chance to renew the Toledo Lucas County Public Library's levy, which accounts for 55% of the library's budget. The $3.7 million levy is not a new tax but a continuation of the levy that must be renewed every five years. (WTVG)
- Two years after the death of three-year-old Braylen Noble, his mother and grandmother are finally going to stand trial on September 12. Braylen's mother, Dajnae Cox, was charged with child endangerment and obstruction of justice and his grandmother, Bobbie Johnson, was charged with obstruction of justice. (WTVG)
