Happy Thursday, neighbors! Here's everything happening today in Toledo.


First, today's weather:

Very cold with snow, 6-10 inches. High: 25 Low: 13.


Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:

  1. Matt Eberflus was a starting linebacker for the UToledo Rockets from 1988 through 1991 and later served on the coaching staff before transitioning to the NFL. Coach Eberflus has now been named as head coach for the Chicago Bears, the first Rocket to ever hold such a position. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Veronica Villarreal was injured by a hit-and-run driver Monday morning on Angola between Reynolds and Holland-Sylvania. Villarreal has special needs and had left her home after her caregiver was asleep. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers. (13abc Action News)
  3. A woman reported to Toledo Police that she was shot at in the parking lot of the Stop & Go in the 400 block of East Broadway in East Toledo Tuesday night. Police recovered a shell casing and discovered a bullet hole in a vehicle nearby. (WTOL)
  4. Toledo boxer Robert Easter is being sued in the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas by the woman he punched at Bucks Rack City Gentleman's Club last year. Easter was previously been convicted of assault in the Toledo Municipal Court for the crime and sentenced to probation and anger management. The victim alleges having suffered a traumatic brain injury and is asking for punitive damages. (13abc Action News)
  5. The Glass Pavilion at the Toledo Museum of Art is hosting Percy Echols II as the 50th artist for its Guest Artist Pavilion Project (GAPP). Echols' residence will run from February 2-11 with a free Zoom artist talk on Friday, Feb. 11 at 7 PM. (bgindependentmedia.org)

  • The UToledo Department of Women's and Gender Studies is hosting a student resource showcase this upcoming Tuesday, February 8. The event is scheduled from 12:30-2 PM at University Hall Room 4280 and will be livestreamed as well. (Press Release Desk)
  • Bedford Public Schools has closed for the rest of the week due to the pending winter storms. Superintendent Dr. Carl Shultz announced an early dismissal Wednesday and reports that such a closure will help the students enjoy their snow days and maybe even help their community. (WTOL)
  • The Toledo Zoo has announced it will be closed through Friday due to the snow storms. Similarly, Imagination Station had previously announced it will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. (13abc Action News)
  • The Lake Township Police Department has announced its first successful recovery after implementing the Missing Children Program. The juvenile was found at a local hotel and was transported to the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center for safety. (WNWO NBC 24)
  • The deadline to purchase a Lucas County dog license has been extended to the end of the month by the Lucas County Commissioners. Tags can be purchased at the Lucas County Auditor's Office at 1 Government Center in Downtown Toledo, at participating agencies, or online. (13abc Action News)
