🌱 Fundraiser For Patron Saints Brewer + North Toledo House Fires

Happy Thursday, neighbors! Here's what's happening today in town.


First, today's weather:

A shower; breezy, cooler. High: 51 Low: 34.


Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:

  1. Toledo Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred overnight Wednesday. A home on Greenwood Avenue was shot into around midnight, and a person suffering a gunshot wound checked in to St. Charles Hospital and will have to be transported once stabilized. (WTOL)
  2. The Knights of Columbus at St. John XXIII in Perrysburg are hosting a virtual charity reverse auction benefiting Mom's House Toledo on May 14. Mom's House Toledo is a five-star childcare center that helps low-income, single mothers graduate high school and post-secondary education and attain life goals. (BG Independent Media)
  3. Toledo will receive $19.4 million in federal funding for rental assistance, which can be applied for through the end of April. The city first received $14.3 million during the COVID pandemic which was dispersed to 2,564 households. (WTVG)
  4. One person was injured in a house fire in North Toledo Wednesday morning at Waldorf Drive near East Manhattan Boulevard. Toledo Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital with burns. (WTOL)
  5. Several local breweries are raising money for Aaron Grizaniuk, co-owner of Patron Saints Brewery on Bancroft, after he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. An extensive number of local breweries are participating in the event April 7 when $1 of every pint sold will go to the Grizaniuk family GoFundMe page. (WTVG)

  • The Toledo Humane Society is offering summer camps and hands-on learning experiences for children 5 to 16. Camps include Jr. Animal Adventure Camp, Animal Photography and Drawing Camp, and K9 training workshops. (WNWO NBC 24)
  • Toledo Fire & Rescue worked to put out a fire at a vacant home in North Toledo at the intersection of North Richardson Drive and Elder Drive. The fire started before 7 AM on Wednesday morning and the cause is under investigation. (WTOL)
  • Gas prices are once again on the rise in Toledo, having jumped 13 cents a gallon since last week. The average price is $4.16 per gallon while the national average is at $4.23. (WTOL)
  • The Libbey House Foundation and The Arts Commission are hosting a series of lectures focusing on the history that established Toledo as "the Glass City." The lectures be held at the Libbey House and the $10 ticket price includes a wine and cheese reception. (Toledo.com)
  • This Monday saw the City of Toledo begin its 2022 Residential Road Repair Program. Funds from the 2020 dedicated roads levy will be used and the expected cost for this year's project will be over $22 million. (WTVG)
