🌱 Glass City Metropark Expansion + Proposed Waterville Amphitheater

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Toledo.

(Patch Media)

Hey, neighbors! I'm back in your inbox this morning with your fresh copy of the Toledo Daily. Here are all the most important things to know about what's happening locally.

First, today's weather:

Less humid with sunshine. High: 78 Low: 56.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Toledo who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Toledo Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. Construction continues for the Glass City Metropark, which will soon feature a "Mini Maumee" waterplay area, a 40-foot tall play structure, and even a local restaurant. Metroparks Director of Philanthropic Programs Ally Effler says the new additions will rival those found in "the best cities in the world." (WTVG)
  2. A proposal for a new amphitheater and arts district has been proposed at the intersection of State Route 64 and U.S. Route 24 in Waterville. The plans include on-site parking, hotels, restaurants and seating for 7,500-9,375 people. (WTOL)
  3. Metroparks Toledo have seen an increase in car break-ins this summer, with four cases happening over the 4th of July weekend. Last year the Metroparks teamed up with a taskforce and learned the thieves were part of a criminal ring out of Florida. (WTOL)
  4. President Biden singled out Ohio's controversial "Heartbeat Law" when he signed an executive order protecting abortion rights in the United States. Ohio's law has already forced a 10-year-old rape victim to seek treatment outside the state in Indiana. (WTVG)
  5. The City of Toledo Parks and Youth Services division is offering a series of Saturday morning walks for its "Let's Get Moving" initiative. The walks will feature Toledo leaders such as Mayor Kapszukiewicz and will host health screenings and blood pressure readings from ProMedica. (WNWO NBC 24)
