  1. Domestic violence experts from Lucas County Children Services and ProMedica offer solemn words after two children were killed this month by alleged violence at the hands of a parent and caretaker, respectively. 20-year-old Anthony Genna was arrested on aggravated murder charges for 5-month-old Aria Genna on October 14, and Michael Kitto was arrested for the death of 3-year-old Declan Hill on October 10.   2. HEAVY Beer Co. and Toledo Spirits will host a "Hellwether" pop-up bar in the basement of Toledo Spirits October 19-30. The Hellwether will be open from October 19-30 and feature Halloween-themed beers and cocktails, as well as Horror Trivia on October 19 and 28. (WTVG)
  3. The Toledo Fire Dept. will pass out free smoke alarms on October 20 from 8 AM - 1 PM at TPPA Hall at 1947 Franklin Ave. (WTVG)
  4. Earnest Brew Works and Gathering Volumes are hosting an fundraiser for a 'school book fair' on Thursday from 5-9. A dollar from every beer sold will go toward the Northwest Ohio Teen Book Festival in March 2023 which will feature "author signings and literature discussions." (WNWO NBC 24)
  5. A Ukrainian family separated in the early days of the war have come to the Toledo area thanks to Toledo Helps Ukraine, Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, the Sylvania Rotary Club, and the Jewish Federation of Toledo. The Bondarenko family is living in Northwest Ohio while making permanent plans to relocate to Dallas, Texas. (WTOL)

  • Toledo Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of Gawil Avenue around 11 PM Monday and found a vehicle with bullet holes. An area hospital later reported admitting two men who were both shot in their legs. (WTOL)
  • Several Maumee residents attended the Maumee City Council meeting on Monday to address skyrocketing water bills, some as much as $1,000. One resident reported taking out a loan to pay a water bill. (WTOL)
