Here are the top stories in Toledo today:

  1. Toledo Fire & Rescue responded to a fight at the IHOP located at Talmadge and Wenwood in West Toledo Wednesday morning. Around 2 AM, a man got behind the wheel of a car and attempted to strike other patrons, eventually ramming into the restaurant's front door. (13abc Action News)
  2. A memorial event celebrating International Overdose Awareness Day was held at Glass City Metropark in East Toledo. The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department offered Narcan (an anti-overdose drug) training and distribution to attendees. (WTOL)
  3. Two former Mayors of Toledo, Donna Owens and Mike Bell, spoke at Savage Park recently about the rise in violence in the city. Owens criticized incumbent mayoral candidate Wade Kapszukiewicz for allocating $613,000 for city park signs instead of Toledo families. (WNWO NBC 24)
  4. A collaboration between Monroe Street United Methodist Church and Lowe's has resulted in two "tiny homes" being built in West Toledo at the corner of Bluff Street and Rosedale Avenue. The environmentally-friendly homes are part of a program to combat poverty and homelessness and will require residents to pay monthly rent and perform community service. (13abc Action News)
  5. Springfield Local Schools are the latest Northwest Ohio school system to mandate masks for all students, staff, and visitors regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status. The district's numbers are higher than around this time last fall and the mandate will last a minimum of 30 days. (WNWO NBC 24)
