🌱 Juvenile Killed In Old West End Crash + 1 Injured In TPD Car Chase

Hey, everybody! I'm back with your fresh copy of the Toledo Daily, fresh off the presses. Let's get this Tuesday started off right with a quick dive into the most important things happening in town, including updates on:

  • Toledo Police Officer Ashlynn Pluff was given a 'verbal reprimand' for using profanity during a July 2022 incident that resulted in the arrest of Olympic boxer and bronze medalist Oshae Jones.
  • A teenager from Oregon was struck by a stolen red Kia fleeing Toledo Police that began at Parkside and Dorr Street around 7:00 PM Saturday.
  • Toledo Police are investigating a fatal crash after a car traveling northwest on Monroe Street struck a lightpole near Robinwood Avenue in the Old West End Sunday morning around 2:00 AM.

  1. Toledo Police Officer Ashlynn Pluff was given a 'verbal reprimand' for using profanity during a July 2022 incident that resulted in the arrest of Olympic boxer and bronze medalist Oshae Jones. Body cam footage shows Officer Pluff strike Jones in the head even after Jones complained about the profanity and getting hit in the face by the officer, though no discipline was given for these actions.   2. A teenager from Oregon was struck by a stolen red Kia fleeing Toledo Police after a chase that began at Parkside and Dorr Street around 7:00 PM Saturday. The 17-year-old victim was struck near Upton and the suspects fled on foot in the 2000 block of Sylvania. (WTVG)
  3. Toledo Police are investigating a fatal crash after a car traveling northwest on Monroe Street struck a light pole near Robinwood Avenue in the Old West End Sunday morning around 2:00 AM. A juvenile passenger died at the scene and the 26-year-old driver was transported to the hospital in an unknown condition. (WTOL)
  4. The City of Toledo is accepting applications for "fun community programs enhancing engagement, activity and wellness for Toledo youth and young adults throughout summer 2023 or the following academic year." The city has budgeted $2 million for the programming and applications can be accessed online. (WNWO)
  5. The Barenaked Ladies are coming to Toledo Zoo Amphitheater on June 4 this summer as part of the Last Summer on Earth 2023 American tour. Tickets go on sale Feb. 3 and the concert will include opening acts Semisonic and Del Amitri. (WTVG)

  • ProMedica will host a free lecture addressing youth gun violence at Toledo Hospital on Wednesday at 8:30 AM. (WTVG)
  • Toledo Police responded to Bowsher High School on Saturday after a call reported two suspects bringing weapons into the school from a "white Dodge Journey." Officers located the vehicle, whose owner suggested the call may have been a hoax caused by a strained relationship, and no weapons were discovered at the scene. (WTOL)
  • The Greater Toledo Auto Show will take place this weekend from February 3-5 at the Glass City Center. (WTVG)
