🌱 Lewis Ave Kidnapping, Child Safe + UTMC Receives Funding Boost

Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. The Toledo Police are investigating a kidnapping after a car containing a child was stolen at a convenience store on 4505 Lewis Avenue Thursday morning. The child was dropped off unharmed several blocks away shortly after the theft, and the child's father was inside the store at the time of the crime. (WTOL)
  2. The Toledo Police Department is implementing new technology called "automatic license plate recognition" in hopes of solving crimes faster. Such technology will be able to identify a license plate of a stolen car or a drive-by shooter. 25 new license plate readers will be placed throughout the city for a 1 year pilot program.   3. The University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) will be receiving an influx of funds from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to help improve patient care in the region. The approved funding will generate an additional $25 million, which could recur annually. (Press Release Desk)
  4. Frank Sinatra's granddaughter, AJ Lambert, will be performing with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra on February 26 at the Peristyle Theatre at the Toledo Museum of Art. Lambert will be performing a recreation of the "Only the Lonely" album in its entirety. (toledo.com)
  5. Toledo Fire & Rescue had to battle a blaze at their own station house on Lewis Avenue Wednesday morning. A storage room filled with electrical and communication equipment was the cause of the fire and the crew has been dispersed to other fire houses for the time being. (WTOL)
