Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:
- The Toledo Police Gang Task Force have released a map of known gang territories across the city. The map shows nine locations of the city's estimated 30-37 gangs. (WTOL)
- Kalista Lott, 31, has been arrested for assaulting off-duty Lucas County Sheriff's Deputy William Leu on Sunday. Toledo Police were called to the intersection of Ottawa Cove Drive and Suder Avenue where Lott assaulted both Deputy Leu and passenger Kristine Sharp, 39. (WTVG)
- Toledo Mayor Kapszukiewicz traveled to Washington D.C. last Friday to discuss how the city will spend funds from the American Rescue Act. Roughly a third of the $180 million given to Toledo will be spent on safety measures like more police officers and expanded Shot Spotter technology. (WTOL)
- Several big box stores in Northwest Ohio have recently been targeted by thieves. The Perrysburg Lowe's was robbed of $7,300 worth of merchandise and two thieves took $56,000 worth of jewelry from the Kohl's in Perrysburg. (WTVG)
- Jury selection in the trial against the last two defendants in the Stone Foltz Bowling Green State University hazing death case began Monday in the Wood County Common Pleas Court. Troy Henricksen, 24, of Grove City, Ohio faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, tampering with evidence, and hazing while Jacob Krinn, 21, of Delaware, Ohio faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, reckless homicide, obstructing official business, and hazing. - Clay High School is hosting the 2nd Annual Food Truck Competition today. Students in the culinary arts program create dishes and set up shop in the school's parking lot with community members judging the entrees. (WTOL)
- Tavon Fields, 18, was shot and killed Saturday night in the 1800 block of Brame Place near Matlack Avenue. Fields and Reginald Foster, 17, were each transported to Toledo Hospital by private auto, though Foster's wounds are non-life-threatening. (WTVG)
- Two women were injured in a Saturday morning car crash around 2:30 a.m. on Ottawa Parkway near Parkside. One unidentified driver fled the scene and Toledo Police are investigating the incident. (WTVG)
- Toledo Public Schools will close Robinson Achievement, which serves students suffering from mental health issues or those who would benefit from a non-traditional classroom. Eight students will transfer to LEAP behavioral school, while 19 others will be "mainstreamed" based on their respective Individualized Education Program (IEP). (WTVG)
