First, today's weather:
Heavy afternoon thunderstorms. High: 75 Low: 55.
Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:
- A Lucas County Grand Jury indicted Jadiah Carter, 22, for the fatal shooting of 7-month-old Desire Hughes. Carter faces several charges including aggravated murder, felonious assault, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. (WTVG)
- Already facing charges of a separate shooting, Amir Hashim, 19, was indicted for the murder of Philip Cunningham, 18, on April 25. The crime occurred in a home in the 2200 block of Lagrange Street. (WTOL)
- After two vehicles were reportedly driving erratically near Dorr Street, Toledo Police stopped one driver suffering from a gunshot wound at 17th and Jefferson at 4 p.m. Thursday. Toledo Police found a home in the 1100 block of Pinewood Avenue hit by gunfire. No suspects are in custody. (WTOL)
- Kidz Watch Sylvania daycare on Central Avenue has been affected by smoke damage caused by a fire at neighboring sushi restaurant Kyoto Ka around 6 a.m. Wednesday. The daycare expects to open after Memorial Day following an extensive cleanup. (WTVG)
- The Ohio Theatre on Lagrange Street will receive a $2.5 million grant and come under the ownership of the nonprofit Children's Theatre Workshop. Formerly housed at the Collingwood Art Center, CTW purchased the Ohio Theatre from the Land Bank. (Toledo City Paper)

- Toledo man Sidney Mayfield suffers from the rare disease necrotizing autoimmune myopathy, which causes skeletal muscle weakness. Mayfield is now working to raise awareness for the disease. (WTOL)
- The Reduce, Reuse and Recycle event in Lucas County will see several pickup spots around town accepting recycling drop-offs. (WNWO NBC 24)
- The Cherry Street Mission is expecting an influx of guests due to the increasing heat. You can help by donating needed items like sunscreen and bottled water. (WTOL)
