Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. The Henry County Sheriff's Office reported 49-year-old Grand Rapids man Alex Smith has died after falling off a boat into the Maumee River around 6:40 p.m. Saturday. A diver with the Toledo Fire & Rescue Dept. recovered Smith's body around 9:20 p.m. the same night. (WTOL)
  2. James Dotson was arrested according to the Lucas County Sheriff's Deputies after allegedly attacking two hotel workers at the Courtyard hotel in Springfield Township. Dotson is accused of strangling one of the employees and dragging her down a hallway. (WTVG)
  3. A 41-year-old Toledo man was caught by the Michigan State Police after stealing a cash register from the Sunoco Station on Luna Pier Road Sunday morning around 1:26 a.m. Police used a K9 unit and aerial drone to apprehend the robber, who was taken to the Monroe County Jail. (WTOL)
  4. A woman crashed her car through Jackson Hewitt tax services and into Edward Jones Investments at a plaza in the 3500 block of Executive Parkway around 11 a.m. Monday. Toledo Fire & Rescue had to rescue a man trapped in his office and the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. (WTVG)
  5. The Lucas County Commissioners have announced more grant funding for grassroots organizations aimed at criminal justice reform and racial equity. Funding proposals can be submitted online or directly to the Board of Commissioners at One Government Center Suite 800. (WNWO NBC 24)

  • Toledo Police have identified a non-verbal child who was found near South Avenue and Reynolds Road on Monday. (WTOL)
  • A massive fire affected three buildings and roughly 24 apartment units at the Miracle Manor Apartments in West Toledo, resulting in 70 displaced residents. (WTOL)
  • Toledo Police are investigating after two people were shot Saturday in separate incidents. Matrice Reddick, 31, is recovering after being shot several times in the 2200 block of Rosewood in Central Toledo around 3:30 a.m. and Shomisha Barnes, 33, has non-life-threatening injuries after being shot on Green Street in South Toledo around 4:30 a.m. (WTOL)
  • Toledo Police apprehended a 15-year-old after they and two others tried to flee police in a vehicle traveling near Junction and Nebraska. The two unknown individuals fled after the car crashed into two residential properties on Hawley. (WTVG)
  • Ye Olde Cock N'Bull will donate 100% of its profits made over the weekend to help Social Gastropub in Perrysburg after it was destroyed in a fire last week. (WTVG)
