🌱 Man Shot In Face On Cherry Street + N. Toledo Murder Verdict

Happy Wednesday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know to start today off on an informed note. Here's everything you need to know around town today.


First, today's weather:

Some clouds, then sunshine. High: 46 Low: 28.


Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. 36-year-old Anna Sigarroa has been arrested for shooting her boyfriend in the face Friday night in the 3300 block of Cherry Street and is charged with felonious assault. Sigarroa told police she was attempting to take her gun away from 30-year-old Christopher Antron Scott Jr. as his felony record prohibits him from handling firearms when it accidentally fired. (WTVG)
  2. Rashad Gaines has been found guilty of murder for the 2018 shooting death of Martrece Dobson in North Toledo. Gaines shot and killed Dobson while the latter was sitting in a car at the corner of East Oakland Street and Franklin Avenue. (WTOL)
  3. A car crash on Laskey Road near Talmadge caused hundreds of residents to lose power according to Toledo Edison. The vehicle landed in the lawn of Emmanuel Baptist Church around 9:00 AM and the accident is currently under investigation. (WTVG)
  4. The Toledo Police have completed a second neighborhood crackdown on crime effort, this time in the Five Points area. Dubbed Operation F.A.S.E.R. (Five Points Area Safety Enforcement Response), the police were able to seize dozens of guns, tow over 100 junk cars, make 9 DUI arrests, and seize several hundred thousand dollars worth of drugs.   5. The Toledo Symphony Orchestra is accepting nominations for the 2021-2022 Outstanding Music Educator Award. The winner will be recognized at the May 14 ProMedica Masterworks program "Romantic Rhapsodies." Educators in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan are eligible and nominations are due by March 31.   • The Problem Gambling Network of Ohio reports 1 in 10 Ohioans struggle with inappropriate gambling, including an estimated 3,700 problem gamblers in Lucas County alone. Luckily there are programs to provide help including the Voluntary Exclusion Program and treatment at the Zepf Center. (WTVG)
  • Former battalion chiefs Tim Clapp and Daniel Brown-Martinez with the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department were both promoted to deputy chiefs on Monday afternoon. The ceremony was held in the Toledo City Council Chambers with TFD Chief Allison Armstrong. (WNWO NBC 24)
