Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:
- Toledo Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. 24-year-old Dachante Snipes transported himself to the hospital with a gunshot wound after police were alerted to shots fired in the 3400 block of Gibralter Heights in South Toledo around 6 PM Tuesday. Around 1 AM Wednesday morning, 29-year-old Keshawn Searcy reported to a hospital after being shot in the arm twice. (WTOL)

- Metroparks Toledo is receiving nearly $25,000 from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation to promote accessibility in park programming. New equipment will be acquired, such as an Action Trackchair for ease of movement over park terrain, and a 32-by-22-foot pool to introduce watersports such as paddleboarding and kayaking to those with disabilities. (13abc Action News)
- An alert has been issued by the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department after an alarming rise in overdoses has occurred in the month of January. The department offers resources such as Naloxone training and syringe services for those affected. (WNWO NBC 24)
- With frigid temperatures in full force, there are several things that Toledoans can do to protect their pets from the elements. The Toledo Humane Society notes that leaving pets outside becomes a severe issue this time of year as frostbite and hypothermia can set in quickly. Other recommendations include keeping outdoor walks short and exercising your pets indoors. (WNWO NBC 24)
