🌱 Monkeypox Discovered In Lucas County + TARTA Transport To Jeep Fest

First, today's weather:

Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:
- Toledo woman Christina Price has been sentenced to a mandatory six years in prison for a crash that killed 8-year-old Kyla Brown. Price, the fiancé of Kyla's grandfather, crashed into the raised Craig Memorial Bridge on September 11, 2021 after driving through the protective gates. (WTVG)
- The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has confirmed a case of monkeypox in Lucas County and is now contact-tracing to help limit the spread of the disease. Health Commissioner Dr. Eric Zgodzinski reports monkeypox is very difficult to catch but can spread from close contact between people. (WTVG)
- Ahmad Williams was indicted on charges of murder, felonious assault and child endangering Thursday by a Lucas County grand jury for the death of an infant child. Williams was originally arrested on August 1 but the infant has tragically died from the various injuries, including a skull fracture that Williams allegedly admitted to causing. (WTOL)
- TARTA will be providing transportation this weekend from Franklin Park Mall to Downtown Toledo for Jeep Fest. The 'Jeep Fest Express' will transport residents from the mall to Erie Street and Madison Avenue every 30-60 minutes from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and fares will be $1.50. (WNWO)
- All Toledo city pools will be free Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. thanks to a $1,000 donation from a former Willy's Park pool lifeguard. Children's Hunger Alliance and Connecting Kids to Meals will be providing free packed meals during the event. (WNWO)

- The Levis Commons Fine Art Fair will occur August 20 and 21 for the 18th year in a row. The event is hosted by the Guild of Artists and Artisans and will feature over 100 jury-selected works. (Toledo City Paper)
- The Toledo Newsboys honored founder John Gunckel at his pyramid gravesite in Woodlawn Cemetary Wednesday. Gunckel established the program in 1846 by helping feed youth off the street on Christmas Day and the group went national in 1904. (WNWO)
- Toledo's new Director of Diversity and Inclusion Lacy DeBerry comes from a long career in Greensboro, North Carolina and will help assess how local city employees are impacted by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination in the workplace. (Toledo City Paper)
- Engage Toledo is accepting applications for this year's Ambassador Academy according to an announcement from Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz on Wednesday. The group allows youth to visit city facilities and learn about local government from "elected officials, first responders and organization leaders." (WNWO)
