Here are the top stories in Toledo today:

  1. A Toledo man has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges stemming from a September shooting in Bowling Green. Wood County Common Pleas Judge Molly Mack stated defendant Javen McIntoush faces several years in jail if found guilty. (Sentinel-Tribune)
  2. Toledo organization Food Not Bombs has spent decades on expanding the availability of fresh food for the community. Operating out of a home in the Old West End, the group delivers meals weekly to around 100 people. (WTOL)
  3. Toledo Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at a duplex on Orchard Avenue in South Toledo. The lower level suffered heavy damage and an investigator has been called in. (13abc Action News)
  4. The Planet Fitness Michigan Group is donating $60,000 worth of fitness equipment to Scott High School. The partnership with Toledo Public Schools is meant to help students' physical and mental health. (WNWO NBC 24)
  5. The University of Toledo's Water Task Force held a meeting to discuss the safety of the city's water supply, reporting no concerns for algae blooms this year. The task force was created in 2014 in response to the Toledo Water Crisis. (13abc Action News)

  • The history of armor — in warfare and culture — is the focus of a fall exhibit at the Toledo Museum of Art (TMA). "The Age of Armor: Treasures from the Higgins Armory Collection at the Worcester Art Museum" opens November 6. (Toledo City Paper)
  • The Lucas County Prosecutor's Office has asked for more time to evaluate Wayne Brandy's and Karl Willis' motion for a new trial. The pair was convicted in the 1998 murder of Maurice Purifie and were featured in WTOL's "Guilty Without Proof" series. (WTOL)
  • The Ottawa Hills Board of Education has accepted the resignation of Ronald 'Donnie' Stevens after he was convicted of rape in September. (WTOL)
  • The City of Toledo is investing $20 million in early childhood education through HOPE Toledo and with the help of a grant through the American Rescue Plan. (WNWO NBC 24)
