🌱Perrysburg PD Catches Sex Offender + Waterville Amphitheater Lawsuit

Hi all. It's me, Brad King, your host of the Toledo Daily. Here are all the things you need to know about what's happening in town today. Today we'll cover these stories and more:

  • The Department of Justice has reported that convicted sex offender Anthony John-Hamernik Girard, 32, of Dearborn was caught with the help of Perrysburg Police.
  • UPDATE: The Lucas County Coroner's Office stated 46-year-old Lucas County Corrections Center inmate Robert Witcher died of natural causes Tuesday.
  • The Glass City Center, formerly the SeaGate Centre, will host an open house on Saturday from 11 AM - 2 PM featuring free food and drinks, live music and SeaGate Centre souvenirs.

  1. The Department of Justice has reported that convicted sex offender Anthony John-Hamernik Girard, 32, of Dearborn, MI was caught with the help of Perrysburg Police. Girard, a previous offender, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for online soliciting of an undercover police officer he believed to be a 14-year-old child. (WTVG)
  2. UPDATE: The Lucas County Coroner's Office stated 46-year-old Lucas County Corrections Center inmate Robert Witcher died of natural causes Tuesday. Witcher was incarcerated for assault, domestic violence, menacing, and violating parole charges. (WTVG)
  3. Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz named Rebecca Facey as the new Toledo City Prosecutor and Michael Troendle as the interim police chief at a press conference Thursday. (WNWO)
  4. Eight plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit against the City of Waterville's approval of a 7,500-seat amphitheater. The suit alleges violations of the city's charter and whether the amphitheater will violate existing noise ordinances. (WNWO)
  5. The Glass City Center, formerly the SeaGate Centre, will host an open house on Saturday from 11 AM - 2 PM featuring free food and drinks, live music and SeaGate Centre souvenirs. General Manager Steve Miller hopes to double the estimated 125,000 yearly attendance and anticipates an $800 million economic impact within the next 10 years. (WOTL)

  • Toledo Police are investigating after a 35-year-old man reported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm after climbing into his ex-girlfriend's window in on Elm Street in North Toledo. (WTOL)
  • Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown has criticized the U.S. House of Representatives for failing to choose a speaker, saying the members are acting like "children." (WTOL)
