Here are the top stories today in Toledo:

  1. Toledo Police responded to an injured man in the 700 block of Utah Street in East Toledo early Monday morning. 56-year-old David Fishbein was discovered suffering from a major head wound after a neighbor called 911. TPD took one woman into custody and a man downtown for questioning. (WTOL)
  2. A local group called Bags of Love 419 is partnering with the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library this year to provide necessities for Toledo's teens. Bags of Love 419 has offices in the O'Reilly Building in Millbury, Ohio and is accepting donations throughout the holiday season. (WTOL)
  3. Beginning Monday, November 22 Perrysburg Schools will once again require masks inside all district buildings for students and staff regardless of vaccination status. The school system has seen a 176% increase from last school year's highest number of new cases in a single week, and the mask mandate is scheduled to last through December 16. (13abc Action News)
  4. The Toledo Ballet is staging its 81st production of 'The Nutcracker' this year at the Stranahan Theatre. This tradition is the longest-running annual production in the nation. Audiences will be able to see the show both in-person and through streaming. (bgindependentmedia.org)
  5. Toledo has begun receiving refugees from Afghanistan through the placement agency US Together. About a dozen Afghans have arrived in the Glass City out of an expected 25, and the next steps are to find permanent housing for them. (13abc Action News)

  • A new program is coming to Toledo called the Kid Mayor and Kid Council program. The new opportunity comes as a collaboration among the Toledo Mayor's Office, the Human Relations Commission, Washington Local Schools, and Toledo Public Schools. Those involved will meet quarterly to learn about local government and to come up with initiatives to help improve the city. (WTOL)
  • The northbound lanes on Reynolds Road were closed for hours on Sunday after a semi-truck driver lost control and rolled the truck onto its side. Maumee Police were involved and the driver will be cited for failure to control. (13abc Action News)
  • This Saturday the Trans Day of Remembrance was celebrated at Handmade Toledo on Adams Street. Though the day started in 1999, 2021 has been the deadliest year on record for violence against the transgender community. Resident artists from the Toledo Opera attended and sang songs of love and peace for the event. (WTOL)
  • With gas prices dropping 2.67 cents/gallon this week in Toledo, travel for Thanksgiving is projected to increase 13% from last year. Experts warn holiday travelers to expect almost pre-pandemic crowds at airports and on the road. (WTOL)
