Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:

  1. Toledo Edison First Energy reports roughly 1800 customers were without power after a car crash on Reynolds Road. The company estimated power would be restored by 8 p.m. Friday night. (WTVG)
  2. Toledo Jeep Fest 2022 is happening this weekend for the fifth year in a row. The Jeep Parade begins at 11 a.m. today. Sunday will feature a 5K run/walk, food trucks and live entertainment. (WNWO NBC 24)
  3. The Old South End Gateway Arch has begun construction at Broadway Street south of the I-75 overpass. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will be in town August 17 at 2 p.m. to dedicate the landmark for the Historic South End neighborhood. (WTVG)
  4. A teenager was shot in West Toledo early Friday morning just after midnight while walking to a Taco Bell near the intersection of W. Alexis Road and Tetherwood Drive. The victim stated they were shot in the left foot by a passing vehicle but were unable to provide a description of the suspects. (WTOL)
  5. The Ability Center in Toledo hosted its Assistance Dog Graduation at the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion. The 11 graduating Labrador retrievers will be sent to area schools and individuals to assist with special needs. (WTOL)

  • Opened in 1995, Doc Watson's sits inconspicuously at 1616 South Byrne Road but has been a local favorite for great food and drinks. (Toledo City Paper)
  • Tickets are still available for Barefoot at the Beach occurring today from 6:30 - 11:30 p.m. at Maumee Bay State Park.(WTOL)
  • Residents of Seaman Street in East Toledo say a vacant home has been attracting rodents, pests and an overgrown lawn since its owners passed away over 10 years ago. (WTVG)
  • Washington Local Schools Superintendent Kadee Anstadt announced new visitor policies put in place to ensure the safety of students for the 2022-23 school year, including new technology for quick ID background checks. (WTVG)
