School COVID Cases + Downtown Scooters Criticized + Power Outages

Up and at 'em, Toledo! Here's everything you need to know to get this Friday started off right.

First, today's weather: Humid and partly cloudy throughout the day. High: 91 Low: 74.


Here are the top stories today in Toledo:

  1. Downtown Toledo is currently host to a 10-month trial run of Veo scooters and bikes. Though Toledo Police report no traffic accidents, citations, or DUIs; some workers downtown are concerned for the potential misuse of the scooters by intoxicated people. (WTOL)
  2. Nearly 1,500 Toledoans were without power after heavy storms on Thursday morning. According to FirstEnergy, the storms that rolled through Lucas and Fulton Counties affected several residents after rain fell nearly 4 inches per hour. (13abc Action News)
  3. Maumee Pediatric Associates are reporting an uptick in COVID cases as children return to school. Dr. Noah Sutter reports that safety precautions should continue to be taken, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. (WTOL)
  4. Washington Local Schools has sent over 100 students home due to COVID exposure only four days into the new school year. Superintendent Dr. Kadee Andstadt reports there is a mandatory ten-day quarantine unless the student develops symptoms. (13abc Action News)
  5. Thursday's Ohio Redistricting Commission was relocated to the main branch Toledo Lucas County Public Library downtown on Michigan Street. The meeting sought public input in redrawing the state's legislative districts. (BG Independent Media)
