Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. Dajuan Smith has been indicted on attempt to commit murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence charges by a Lucas County Grand Jury. Smith is accused of shooting his girlfriend, Shalena Martinez-Featchurs at the Quality Inn on Alexis Road on March 29. (WTVG)
  2. The Lucas County Canine Care & Control department reports a man on Oak Street shot and killed another family's dog with a crossbow, despite the animal not posing an immediate threat. Cruelty charges are expected to be filed by the Toledo Police Department. (WTVG)
  3. Senator Sherrod Brown visited the Toledo Bay View Water Reclamation Facility on Tuesday. Senator Brown discussed making improvements with new infrastructure law funds, including replacing lead pipes for safer drinking water. (WNWO NBC 24)
  4. Destination Toledo has launched the Great Lake Erie Birding Trail, comprised of 15 stops in Northwest Ohio, Southeast Michigan, and Canada. A mobile passport is available through a collaboration with tech company Bandwango. (WTOL)
  5. Bedford High School senior Kailey Rollins was honored at the ProMedica Steam Plant on Sunday after winning the Undefeated Spirit Scholarship essay contest. (Monroe Evening News)

  • Toledo Police have released new details about the murder of Mary Cervantes in 2019. Mary was last seen arguing with a man and Detective Jeff Sharp is confident someone in her circle may be able to identify him. (WTVG)
  • T.H.E. Dance Company presents "Experior" at Owens Community College. The show will run on April 23 at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. (Toledo City Paper)
