Here are the top stories today in Toledo:
- A man was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in Arbor Landings Apartments in South Toledo near Brookview Drive. Multiple people were treated for smoke inhalation and the building had to be evacuated. (13abc Action News)
- Mayor Kapszukiewicz has weighed in on the lack of COVID vaccinations in Lucas County. The two biggest groups resisting vaccination efforts include communities of color and white evangelical conservatives. (WTOL)
- A fundraiser at ProMedica Toledo Hospital will feature cancer survivors rappelling down the side of the building, including breast cancer survivor and Toledo native Nicole Reamsnyder. The proceeds of the fundraiser go to "Over the Edge for Victory" and will remain exclusively local. (WTOL)
- Port Clinton doctor, William Bauer, has been found guilty on 76 charges of distribution of a controlled substance and 25 charges of healthcare fraud in the US District Court in Toledo. The crimes involve prescribing high amounts of opioids without the proper standard of care and fraudulently billing insurance companies. (13abc Action News)
- Three Toledo landlords have settled a lawsuit brought in 2019 alleging sexual harassment against three female tenants. The landlords, Anthony Hubbard, Ann Hubbard, and Jeffery Hubbard, have agreed to pay $100,000 and the settlement is awaiting approval in the US District Court and involves the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division.
