🌱 Suspect Dies In Lucas Co. Jail + Arrest For Bowsher HS Threats

Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:
- 28-year-old Jamesiha Taylor, accused of stabbing her two children, has died in custody in the Lucas County Jail where she was held on charges of attempted murder. Taylor was on a waiting list for transfer to the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital as she had been found not competent to stand trial. (WTVG)
- Two individuals have been identified for making threats against Bowsher High School last week that resulted in lockdowns. An unnamed juvenile is facing criminal charges and expulsion according to TPS school officials and the Toledo Police. In a separate incident, 59-year-old Raymond Weathers was arrested for making threats to the school last Thursday. (WTVG)
- A 21-year-old distracted driver who ran a stop sign crashed into a car driven by Muriel Michael and containing her partner Xavier Brown and three children in Fulton County. Though the driver who caused the crash suffered only minor injuries, Michael is tragically the sole survivor from her vehicle. (WTOL)
- A South Toledo man was shot in the face during a robbery late Friday night in the 400 block of Crittenden Avenue. Toledo Police report the victim was conscious after the attack and able to walk to an ambulance that transported him to the hospital. (WTOL)
- Wednesday, March 30 will see Democracy Day celebrated in Toledo City Council Chambers at One Government Center and online via Zoom. Democracy Day examines corrupt corporate influence in politics and this year's topics include Black Lives Matter, climate change, health care, and pollution in Lake Erie. (Toledo City Paper)

- Start High School is hosting a sale of gently used prom dresses on April 9 & 10 at the campus on Tremainsville Road. Students have been collecting the dresses all year and the proceeds will benefit the DECA program. (WTOL)
- Toledo Helps Ukraine is a new non-profit organization started by Alona Matchenko. Last week, the group accepted donations to be shipped oversees to Ukraine refugees in Europe. (WTOL)
- Toledo-area artist Benjamin Crane debuted his first solo art exhibit at the Ottawa Tavern last Friday night. Crane has battled cancer and addiction issues that have informed his artwork. (WTOL)
- Local Ukrainian-American Doctor Olena Isapchuk, an aesthetician at AM Skin Health & Plastic Surgery on Secor Road, is collecting money to send as aid to Ukraine. Dr. Isapchuk served in the Ukrainian Army and became a U.S. citizen after arriving in America in 2006. (WTVG)
