🌱 Suspects Flee South Toledo Carjacking + Holland-Sylvania Shooting

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Toledo.

Happy Wednesday, neighbors! Let's get you all caught up to start today off on an informed note.


First, today's weather:

Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:

  1. Toledo Police are investigating after Maurice Winfree, 21, was shot while in a vehicle by an unknown suspect on Dorr near Holland-Sylvania. A passing motorist transported Winfree to the hospital. (WTVG)
  2. A Findlay man told Toledo Police he was carjacked at the intersection of Angola Road and Country Creek Lane in South Toledo Monday night. TPD recovered the vehicle but the assailants escaped by running through Swan Creek Metropark. (WTOL)
  3. Toledo Edison and Metroparks Toledo have built a 55-foot-tall wooden pole in Manhattan Marsh Preserve to help build osprey habitats. The project coincides with the "Biggest Week in American Birding." (WNWO NBC 24)
  4. Toledo Fire & Rescue responded to a fire in the 2200 block of Alexis Road early Tuesday morning. Everyone inside the five-unit apartment made it out safely. (WTOL)
  5. Toledo Police are working with the detective bureau to arrest the drivers involved in the traffic disruptions that occurred all over the city Saturday night. Detectives are reviewing footage and Crime Stoppers tips to make the arrests. (WTVG)

  • The City of Toledo needs additional lifeguards if it is to meet the goal of opening the city's six swimming pools by Memorial Day weekend. (WTOL)
