Here are the top stories in Toledo today:
- With Toledo facing a crisis of youth violence, programs such as Shawn Mahone Sr.'s Young Men and Women for Change are more essential than ever. Five juveniles have been killed since December 5, 2022, a figure that does not include three teenagers who have been shot and hospitalized in just the last week. (WTOL)
- A family of four has been displaced after an SUV ran into their home in the 200 block of Grandolph after first striking "a parked vehicle, an Edison pole and the steps of a neighboring home." Toledo Police are investigating the cause of the crash and the family is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. (WTVG)
- Officials with Bethel Lutheran Church off South Avenue are complaining of drivers doing "donuts" and "burnouts" in the church parking lot, causing extensive damage. Two years ago the church reportedly had to pay $6,000 to repair the parking lot but information such as license plates and videos have been turned over to the Toledo Police. (WTVG)
- The Ability Center and The Sight Center will host a conference on February 23 showcasing advances in web access for those with sight impairments. The event will be a 'lunch and learn' session utilizing "accessiBe" software both virtually and in-person. (WNWO)
- The City of Waterville has already approved a controversial amphitheater project but Waterville residents have submitted a 900-signature referendum asking for the matter to go to a popular vote. The Lucas County Board of Elections will review the filings and make a decision during their April meeting. (WNWO)
