Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:

  1. The Toledo Firefighter accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a teenager resigned one hour prior to a disciplinary hearing on Thursday. The name of the accused has not been released and it is unclear if the victim was underage. (WTOL)
  2. Iman Rahim, 28, has been arrested after allegedly leading Toledo Police on a car chase and causing a firearm to discharge by throwing it out the window. Rahim was arrested at Glendale and Gilbert around 6 p.m. Thursday. (WTOL)
  3. Sylvania Rabbi David Jay Kaufman, accused of rape in March, pleaded no contest to gross sexual imposition and unlawful restraint on Thursday. The Temple Shomer Emunim released a statement after firing Kaufman that the accused action did not take place at the Temple or against a member. (WTVG)
  4. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost's office announced three exemptions to Ohio's "Heartbeat Law" abortion ban, including cases of ectopic pregnancy, where the mother's life is at risk or where serious risk of substantial, irreversible impairment to a major bodily function of the mother is possible. (WTVG)
  5. Wildwood Metropark is seeking volunteers as decorators for this year's Zombie Prom, scheduled Saturday, October 29. Several locations in the Manor House need decorating, including the Foyer, shooting gallery, Gentleman's Closet and the Front Porch. (Toledo City Paper)

  • A new program at Owens Community College Findlay campus is offering a manufacturing/multi-skilled technician apprenticeship program that will incorporate local companies paying students to work a minimum 24 hours a week. (Tiffin Advertiser Tribune)
  • Residents of the Greenbelt Place Apartments reported seeing a dramatic improvement thanks to local organization The Movement and its leader Tina Butts. Greenbelt Place had been designated a nuisance property, but efforts by local and federal officials have helped remedy the violations. (WTVG)
  • "Parker's Purpose" is celebrating its 13th year with a reverse raffle charity dinner at Ole Zim's Wagon Shed in Gibsonburg. Parker Inks, 23, suffers from muscular dystrophy and the foundation has helped disperse over $600,000 to hundreds of families. (WTOL)
