🌱 Sylvania Sex Offender Sentenced + Racist Graffiti @ Perrysburg

Happy Saturday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know to get this day started off right. Here's everything you need to know today in town.

Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:

  1. 29-year-old Holden Gallagher of Sylvania has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexual exploitation of a child and distribution and possession of child pornography. Gallagher was a repeat offender, having already been a registered sex offender on probation from a 2011 conviction of gross sexual imposition of a minor. (WTVG)
  2. Dr. David Foley announced Hondros College of Nursing is participating in an innovative simulation involving psychiatric symptoms. The simulation is meant to train nurses and end the stigma for mental health care. (WNWO NBC 24)
  3. The group that owns Bar 145 has purchased iconic Toledo establishment Nick and Jimmy's, which has been in operation since the 1970s. The group plans to update the building and emphasize the patio. (WTOL)
  4. Perrysburg Police are investigating after racist graffiti was found scrawled on a toilet seat in a Perrysburg High School bathroom. Superintendent Tom Hosler states school cameras may help determine who is responsible for the act. (WTVG)
  5. The Toledo City Council approved funds from the American Rescue Plan Act for infrastructure improvements for the Metroparks. The upgrades include replacing playgrounds, renovating tennis and basketball courts, and installing inclusive play areas. (WNWO NBC 24)

  • Toledo parents Heather and Jon Frost are thankful for the community after an outpouring of support after their five-month-old son Hiro Joseph Frost was diagnosed with rare liver cancer. A family friend put together a GoFundMe page for the family that has already received donations. (WTOL)
  • A home in East Toledo on Plymouth Street has been a site for vandals to strip siding, piping, and boards according to residents. Having no contact with the home's owners, the house is on the City of Toledo's demolition list. (WTVG)
  • Toledo Prospective Homeowners: 5 new homes are on the market, brought to you by Redfin.com and Patch. (Toledo Patch)
  • ProMedica Ebeid Children's Hospital is asking for donated crocheted octopi to give to the infants in the hospital's care. A pattern is available online and the tentacles help soothe the children during their stay. (WTOL)
  • The Huntington Center is hosting Monster Jam this weekend through Sunday. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, fans can also see the trucks up close at the Pit Party before each event. (WTVG)
