Hello again, friends! I'm back in your inbox this morning with your fresh copy of the Toledo Daily. Here are all the most important things to know about what's happening in town today...

Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. A Toledo firefighter has been placed on paid leave after allegations surfaced that they sent inappropriate messages to a teenager. The accusations were brought by the teen's father and a bargaining agreement with Local 92 prevents the Toledo Fire & Rescue Dept. from commenting on its confirmed internal investigation. (WTVG)
  2. Former UToledo soccer coach Brad Evans has been accused of sexual misconduct by several former Rockets women's soccer athletes and staff. Evans has been suspended by U.S. Soccer, where he worked as head coach of Ohio's Olympic Development Program. (WTOL)
  3. Maumee Superintendent Todd Cramer has resigned in order to take a position as a professor with Bowling Green State University. Superintendent Cramer oversaw Maumee Schools' STEAM programming, literacy initiatives and a school foundation. (WTVG)
  4. The Glass City JazzFest is coming to the Glass City Metropark August 28 and will be free. The event was spearheaded by Toledo City Councilwoman Cerssandra McPherson and will also benefit local youth who want to study an instrument. (WTOL)
  5. A program aimed at helping traditionally marginalized entrepreneurs is available at the Kent, Lagrange and South Branch libraries through a partnership among Mercy Health, PNC Bank and the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. The program rewards graduates with a free laptop and is designed to help 100 people over the next three years. (WNWO)

  • Toledo's own Chef Kengo Kato will be opening a third restaurant later this year at the Hollywood Casino. 'Shobu by Kengo' will feature Kengo classics as well as some new exclusives for the casino. (WTOL)
  • The Toledo Police have issued a warrant for Rasean Barringer, 30, who is accused of stealing a digital camera and key fob from First Choice Auto Finance at 1000 Woodville Road in East Toledo. Barringer allegedly got into a physical confrontation with employees over an argument about a vehicle's cost. (WTOL)
  • The Lucas County Commissioners have approved two ballot initiatives for the November elections. A .17 mill tax levy renewal with no increase for Imagination Station and the Toledo Lucas County Library's 3.7 mill tax levy renewal will need to be reviewed by the auditor before the levies will appear on the ballot. (WTVG)
  • The Ability Center aims to make Toledo the most disability-friendly city in America with its "Think Differently" campaign, which features a monthly podcast, signature events, and a new lunch and learn series. (WTVG)
