Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. Toledo man John Taylor witnessed chaos outside his door after a shooting and multiple car crashes occurred Friday night near his home at Western and Gibbons. One person was hospitalized as a result of the shooting. (WTVG)
  2. Toledo Police are searching for two suspects accused of stealing a credit card from a vehicle on May 24 in the 300 block of Raymer Blvd. in East Toledo. The pair used the credit card to ride the city's VEO scooters and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers. (WTOL)
  3. The Toledo Walleye lost their first two games at home in the Kelly Cup finals against the Florida Everblades. This is the Walleyes' first appearance in the championship since 2019, where they lost to the Newfoundland Growlers. (WTOL)
  4. Dana Incorporated has donated over $56,000 from last year's American Junior Golf Association Junior Open tournament to the Special Olympics of Lucas County. Special Olympian Wyatt Serrato was quoted thanking Dana Inc. and this year's tournament will be at the Sylvania Country Club July 18-21. (WNWO NBC 24)
  5. The Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, with help from Saint John XXIII, have broken ground on a new home to benefit Stephanie Laplant and her three daughters. The family was previously living in a one-bedroom apartment and construction is expected to take 3-4 months. (WNWO NBC 24)

  • A Toledo fire truck was hit by a car last Thursday near the intersection of Douglas and W. Laskey. The Toledo Police Department reports the car was cited for the accident. (WTOL)
  • A family of geese was rescued from a Downtown Toledo rooftop with the help of Nature's Nursery and Holland-based landscaping company Outdoor Inspirations. The family was moved to an area near the Glass City Metropark building. (WTOL)
  • Monday was the first day of the Nature's Nursery Virtual Art Auction, which benefits the local animal rescue and runs through next week. (WTOL)
  • The Toledo Kennel Club hosted a "dock diving" event this past Sunday with the help of North America Diving Dogs' mobile dock operator Brian Butler. (WTOL)
