🌱 Toledo City Council Considers Free Pre-K + TFD Downtown Legacy Run

Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:

  1. 33-year-old Brian Mays has been sentenced to nine years in prison after providing fentanyl that resulted in a 2018 overdose death. Toledo Police Chief George Kral points to Mays' sentence as evidence the city is cracking down on drug crimes. (WTOL)
  2. Toledo is implementing a program to replace lead water lines at no cost to residents. The $15 billion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will use funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to replace the lines. (WTOL)
  3. President and CEO of Hope Toledo John C. Jones has approached the Toledo City Council with a plan to provide free Pre-K education for local children. The $1.25 million proposal would use funds from the Rescue Act. (WTVG)
  4. Toledo Fire & Rescue's newest class of recruits completed the "legacy run" on Tuesday, which serves to unite the team and educate about the department's history. The recruits ran in formation through the streets of Downtown Toledo in their first week of the academy. (WNWO NBC 24)
  5. The 15th Annual Record Store Day is Saturday. Several Toledo establishments are celebrating, including Culture Clash, Allied Record Exchange, No Noise, and Finders. (Toledo City Paper)
