Here are the top stories today in Toledo:

  1. A federal appeals court has rejected a request for review in a discrimination case brought by a failed Toledo Fire recruit. The suit was brought by Major Smith III after he was rejected from the fire department for failing training exercises and receiving disciplinary reports. (13abc Action News)
  2. Last week Toledo Police were called to a residence and arrested Toledo Firefighter Adam Thal for domestic violence. Thal was accused of choking his wife and a temporary protection order has been put in place. (WTOL)
  3. Three Toledo Police officers were assaulted in separate incidents over the weekend. One officer was assaulted at the 5100 block of Lewis Avenue by a suspect who fled the scene but left his license. Another was assaulted at the 5600 block of Secor Road. In a separate incident, another officer was stuck with a syringe at the 1300 block of Walbridge Avenue. (WTOL)
  4. A new rock climbing simulator has been unveiled at Glass City Metropark thanks to a collaboration between Mercy Health and Metroparks Toledo. The installation is one of several "FitPark" options throughout Toledo that also feature kayaking and mountain biking. (WNWO NBC 24)
  5. For the second year in a row, the Toledo Greek American Festival has been canceled due to COVID. However, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will host a "Taste of Greece" drive-thru featuring Greek food, pastries, wine, beer and ouzo at the festival grounds on Summit Street. (13abc Action News)
