Here are the top stories in Toledo today:
- Toledo native Oshae Jones has advanced beyond her first match as a member of the USA boxing team competing in the Tokyo Olympics. Jones won by a 3-2 decision, outscoring her opponent 143-142 and is the first female boxer from Ohio to represent the USA. (13abc Action News)
- A 93-year-old woman was displaced from her home in north Toledo after a vacant house fire spread to neighboring properties. The fire occurred in the 3000 block of Chase St. near New York. The woman initially refused to leave her home of 60 years and had to be rescued by Toledo Police. (WTOL)
- A catalytic converter was stolen from an activity bus at the Glendale Assisted Living facility for the second time in under a year. The vehicle is used to transport residents in a variety of settings, from doctors' appointments to group field trips, and has essentially left them stranded in the facility until repairs can be completed. (WNWO NBC 24)
- Emergency room doctors in Toledo are reporting an increase in COVID patients; nearly all of them unvaccinated. Only about 48% of Lucas County is vaccinated and there are concerns that children will be affected because they are not eligible for the vaccine. (13abc Action News)
- A man's body was found in the pond at ProMedica Flower Hospital on Monday afternoon. The Sylvania Fire Department was on scene as the body had been discovered by an employee around 2:45 PM. The individual was identified as 26-year-old Adam Robinson, who appears to have been homeless. Foul play is not suspected at this time. (WTOL)
