🌱SWAT Responds To Riverside Court + Three Juveniles Rob Airport Stop

Good morning, everybody! It's Friday in Toledo and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening in the community today. Hope you all have a great day.

  • Three men were arrested by Toledo Police and SWAT after a barricade situation on Riverside Court Thursday around 3:30 PM
  • The Airport Stop carryout was robbed by a suspected 13-year-old child wearing a mask and two others who brandished a gun when chased by store employees
  • A fight at Ye Old Cock and Bull around closing time has left one 43-year-old victim with life-threatening injuries

Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. Three male suspects have been arrested after Toledo Police negotiators and SWAT responded to a barricade situation on Riverside Court Thursday around 3:30 p.m. Summit Street was closed from Galena to Chicago Street while the incident unfolded but no details have been released. (WTVG)
  2. The Airport Stop carryout on Airport Highway was robbed by a person described as a 13-year-old teenager wearing a mask in South Toledo Wednesday around 8 p.m. The suspect then fled with two other juveniles who brandished a gun when chased by store employees. (WTOL)
  3. A fight at Ye Old Cock and Bull around 2 a.m. Thursday left a 43-year-old victim with life-threatening injuries. Toledo Police responded to the scene around 2:15 a.m. to find an unconscious person in the street before rushing them to the hospital. (WTOL)
  4. The Toledo Lucas County Emergency Rental Assistance Program is now accepting applications for up to 15 months of rental assistance via its online portal through September 30. The program helps cover future rent, unpaid past rent, late fees, security deposits, utility payments and more. (WTVG)
  5. Bittersweet Farms, a Toledo-area charity that supports over 100 individuals with autism, is front-and-center at this year's Dana Open golf event. The Dana Open features 19 "benefiting charities" and runs through September 4. (WNWO)

  • Lutheran Social Services will partner up with the Toledo Lucas County Library to offer monthly outreach at two branches beginning September 6. The social services agency will offer outreach tables at the Sanger branch on the first Tuesday of every month and additional services at the Oregon branch every third Tuesday. (WTVG)
  • The CDC has announced a confirmed total of 97 cases of E. coli throughout Ohio, Michigan, New York, and Kentucky that may be linked to lettuce from Wendy's restaurants. No deaths have been reported and Wendy's has removed romaine lettuce from its menu in the regions affected. (WTVG)
  • Retired police detective Andre Cowell is teaching students at Whitmer Career and Technology Center about criminal justice including dusting for fingerprints, processing evidence, and interrogating suspects. (WTOL)
  • On Friday, September 9, participants may repel down a 16-story building with no training as part of the "Over the Edge" event benefiting The Victory Center, which provides non-medical care to cancer patients and survivors at no cost. (WTOL)
  • Footage has been released from a physical altercation at the Liquor Cabinet on Secor Road in Monroe County that left 60-year-old grandmother Tracy Douglas with serious injuries. Douglas was punched two times by a man after being called racial slurs. The case has been referred to the Monroe County prosecutor. (WTVG)
