Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:
- 42-year-old Shaun Baker was killed in an industrial accident at the Hanson and Mueller Grain Elevator in Toledo around 11 AM Thursday. Toledo Police and TFRD responded to the scene at 1800 N. Water Street. (WTVG)
- 35-year-old Christopher Michael Eldredge, who escaped from the Wood County Jail on April 9, was spotted in Monroe County on Thursday. Eldredge changed clothes in a local business before stealing a blue 2016 Ford Escape with a Michigan Football helmet decal in the window. (WDIV ClickOnDetroit)
- A report from April 11 shows UToledo is still struggling with health code violations for its dining services. Problems with cockroaches persist despite UToledo Deputy Director of Communications Christine Billau stating otherwise on April 7. (WTOL)
- Toledo Police are searching for the driver of a Dodge Ram pick-up truck who crashed into a pole on Monroe Street near Seckinger Drive around 1 AM Friday before abandoning the vehicle. (WTOL)
- English Professor Jen Hazel of Owens Community College is being honored with the 2022 Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Recognition by the American Association of Community Colleges. (The Courier)

- Brian Friess was sentenced to life without parole by a Lucas County Common Pleas Court Judge on Thursday for the 2019 stabbing death of Michelle Keagler. (WTOL)
- The UToledo Board of Trustees has approved funds for campus residence hall renovations in collaboration with the Collegiate Housing Foundation and American Campus Communities. (WNWO NBC 24)
- The McKinley STEMM Academy playground will get a new mural from artists Erin Clinton and Dean Davis, the latter of whom created the Glass City River Wall. (WNWO NBC 24)
- A record $1,977,589 was raised for UToledo's Day of Giving campaign which was celebrated in early April and is a 50% increase from 2021. (Press Release Desk)
