Here are the top stories today in Toledo:
- Toledoan Justin Eckhart was arrested for firing a handgun into the air during a fight at Navarre Park on Monday. According to court documents, a large number of children were present for football practice at the time. (13abc Action News)
- Justin Middleton of Perrysburg was sentenced to community control for selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant. Middleton pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs in the Wood County Common Pleas court. (Sentinel-Tribune)
- Sylvania Schools have re-opened its virtual academy, SALA, after residents raised concerns over its mask policies. Masks will be required for in-person elementary students and strongly encouraged for high school students. (13abc Action News)
- The Washington Local School Board has voted unanimously to require masks for students grades K through 6th. Masks will be required for all bus riders and strongly encouraged for high school students. (13abc Action News)
- The intersection of Berdan Ave. and Drexel Dr. was temporarily closed after a dump truck sank into a sinkhole. Toledo's Engineering Services department reported that the hole was filled with asphalt from the dump truck and that crews will return to fix the site properly. (13abc Action News)

- Per the CDC's guidelines, Wood and Lucas Counties now qualify as having "substantial transmission" rates. The change in numbers has lead the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department to recommend masks regardless of vaccination status. (WTOL)
