🌱 Whitehouse Officer Fired For Texting Student + Franklin Park Gifts

Hey, friends! It's me, Brad King, your host of the Toledo Daily. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening locally. Today you'll read about these stories and more:

  • A Whitehouse Police Officer was fired for texting with an Anthony Wayne High School student.
  • Toledo Police are investigating after a woman died when shots were fired into a South Toledo residence early Sunday morning.
  • The mother and grandmother of 3-year-old Braylen Noble, who was killed in 2020, will not receive jail time.

Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. After the Toledo City Council voted 7-5 for medical debt relief last week the city will now have to enter a contract with RIP Medical Debt before it will take effect. (WTOL)
  2. Toledo Police are investigating after a woman died when shots were fired into a residence in the 400 block of Baden Street in South Toledo around 3 AM Sunday. The 20-year-old victim, Keshy'ra Robinson, was found suffering from a gunshot wound and transferred to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. (WTOL)
  3. Whitehouse Police Officer Ashley Kunesh has been fired after it was discovered that she exchanged text messages with a student at Anthony Wayne High School. Allegations include the student asking a teacher "what do I do if a cop is flirting with me" as well as a promise of gifts from the fired officer. (WTVG)
  4. Dajnae Cox and Bobbie Johnson have avoided jail time for the September 2020 death of 3-year-old Braylen Noble after being sentenced Monday in the Lucas County Common Pleas Court. (WTVG)
  5. Gifts for Toledo-area children can be left at the two "angel trees" in the center court of Franklin Park Mall through December 18. The effort will be assisted by Lucas County Children Services with visitors able to choose gifts based on a child's age and wishlist. (WNWO)

  • Toledo City Council members George Sarantou and Katie Moline discovered boxes containing personal information of residents were left unsecured inside One Government Center after receiving an email from now-suspended City Auditor Jake Jaksetic in June 2022. (WTOL)
  • Jarrett Sullivan has been sentenced to 360 days in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio for the 2019 shooting death of a 16-year-old East Toledo victim. (WTVG)
